The Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory was founded in 1998 at the Department of Math and Computer Science of the University of Udine. It focuses on new interaction paradigms to be used with emerging technologies, such as Mobile Devices and Services, Web3D, Virtual Reality, and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work. Besides doing research, the Lab develops applications in domains such as Medicine, Tourism, Training, and the Web.

This center is part of the italian Public Health System. The structure has a specific functional organization for helicopter as well as ambulance truck activities throughout the region. The center manages dispatch activities in response to emergency calls, evaluation and classification of events reported, care provision and the coordination of resources, doctors, nurses, volunteers, and drivers in emergency events.
